Reds’ was crowded Half full of regulars washin’ down the days’ dust Half full with the Dove hunters that descended every “Opening Day” and paid the ranchers exorbitant “trespass fees” to hunt on their spreads This year, like most years the extra money was welcomed The source?.........Not so much Iambe stood beside me with her back to the bar moving in time with the juke in that way she has, that says “I want to dance” Red and I were debating the pros and cons of our “temporary guests” when…. “THERE!” I glanced up into the mirror behind the bar, behind Red to see a drunken foolish young man, pointing at Iambe “YES, THE LEGGY WENCH!” a young man that had obviously never tasted sawdust flavored with whiskey and beer “BATHE HER, AND BRING HER TO ME!” Or had never learned the lesson from it I stirred to rise but was settled with a gentle touch on my shoulder And watched as she strode with purpose toward her “trespasser” Red leaned in close to my ear and said “Yanno?’ “I hope that boy ain’t a bleeder” ~wranx |

Doubling the Captain's chuckling...Wranx, you are doing Iambe mighty fine...you've caught her gist, AND her left hook. |

When dove season started here in the south, we were bombarded with men in camouflage. From the very old, to the very young. I didn't know it was dove season until I asked a man with three boys, the youngest about 4 (yes in camouflage too) what season this was. When he said dove, I almost fainted. My goodness. Such a tiny little bird really, hardly a mouth full. Oh well. |

Great story, wranx. I wonder if Toerag has recovered yet. I like the way you kept the lines short, with great punch in each. I can almost see Iambe standing there. |

You're really coming into your own with the borrowings of another -- only, not borrowings. Yours? Dude. |
