Blast the allegory analogy, metaphor and all the other words of poetry we have come to know. Tell me a story that I can understand with sights and sounds. With a scent I can catch upon wind. With pictures vivid and bright, hearty in their deliverance. Let me glean the meaning without tease of thought. Just tell me a story. I don't want to crack the safe or decipher the code of your words before they can caress me. Just tell me a story. WhiteRose "The first rule of poetry, write what you know." |

WhiteRose - once upon a time, in a land far, far away there lived a prince. He was very lonely and decided to go on a quest to find his maiden fair.............. BC |

I understand what you mean but do you know what you are asking "a master poet" to do. Like asking a surgeon to perform heart surgery with a butter knife. I, personally do not consider myself a "poet" in that category. I am so not in that league it is laughable. But, I do stand back in awe in them with my finger on one line and balancing the dictionary in my other hand. And hoping, by accident a poster might explain it a little more clearly.. I just started using the print key to see original type and believe or not it makes a difference. My 'poetry' is liked very much more by non-poets, than by poets. And, I like your poetry just fine. Didn't mean to be condscending. I understand exactly how you feel. Warm Regards, Pat without surrender, be on good terms with all persons... |

Thanks all for the comments. I didn't really mean to imply that is what I wanted. Was just a poem about the simple art of telling a story, which in actuality could not be done without all the tools we use that I mentioned. This was just a fun little piece, mostly reminiscent of the stories I heard as a child, told to me by my mother, who used simple words to weave a tale. |
