...Please note: I do not know this man and he never existed. I wrote this for the sheer joy of creating and wondered what would happen if these two met. Opposites do attract, would be the theme...... . . . . . This special connection, not planned by human brain no monetary need to fulfill, but, from nature, our union of spirit was a seed of honesty to blossom at first glance. How incredible for this genuine link knew no discrimination! ~HE~in layered cut-off rags, Harley emblazened across his back, hair wild-cock-sure he spews vulgarities at the world, and, slaps society in its face! To him, but a reflection of its own moral code. Then he smothers existence with artificial pacifiers to calm his terror of reality. ~AND I~Take life straight up! No chasers for this lady. I'll not beat them at their cheating games, I refuse to even play. I'll help those who feel so hopeless, the ones so lost in despair. And, use dignity to conceal my own disgust and morbid fear of earthly deceit. Since birth, our ways of fighting the indecentcy that life has tried to cram down our throats, it always denying us our own sense of rightness. ~HE~ THE RENEGADE! ~ I~ THE SAINT! It's strange we wear completely opposite coats of armor to protect us from the same kind of death that stalks the very center of our being. Though we appear to be so unalike the sobering effect of the magnetism between us tells me our hearts are of the same purity. We are each caught up in unfinished chapters of our lives. But, it matters not, for, when deception has nearly overcome my sense of self I need only to remember this union of our souls, for, in~HIM~ I know I am alive! without surrender, be on good terms with all persons... Oh, Pat, what an excellent piece of work. You are really a good poet, lady...with such a sweet, humble spirit. I find myself looking for your poetry. I love your replies, too. They are so sweet and compassionate, too. By the way, it sure did sound like opposites attracted in this case. I wish the best for you and yours. Love To All, Ethel P.S. My Gary's and my "connection" wasn't planned "by the brain", either. Our heart's just became one!! And it's the best thing that's ever happened to either of us!! As is evidenced here in your poem, "opposites do attract"! Whenever this appears to be the case in a relationship, there are lessons to be learned and knowledge to be gained. This seems to work for you both! ~ May you have many years together learning, growing and loving! ~ EA |

Marge, sorry I missed your reply with the others... and I, take life straight up, no chasers for this lady.., I loved those lines when I wrote them and I still do. the meaning, of course, would have been no drugs and alcohol.... yes, Amen to that.... well, an anti-depressant ever so often might help... but, I'll just muddle through without... PS: I have never known this man and he does not exist..... Thank you for responding, Hugs to you, Pat without surrender, be on good terms with all persons... |

and a PS to Marge... happily....because of PIP I have just been reunited with the "love of my life"..... -p o e t r y- regretably, the anti-depressant would be used to treat the fibromyalgia which likes to wrack my body with a zillion different symptoms...am trying to remain drug-free as long as possible, except for ibruprofen (lots) I appreciate your comments Hugs without surrender, be on good terms with all persons...
