I saw my grandmother
For the last time
It was a good visit
But I couldn't hug her good-bye
You might ask
Why couldn't you hug her good-bye
Because I caught a cold
And if I hugged her
She would get it and die
What a crime
All I could do
Was wave good-bye
From afar
How sad is that
For a final
Good-bye

Cold hands means a warm heart

The thoughtfulness of the goodbye was there,
It seems we always think we’ll see them again,
It’s only when we don’t,
Is when we regret.

Take heart my friend...good bye is always hard. Strength and courage to you and Grandma, as I the point is the effort and love invested. All good wishes, ThisDiamond

Good work  the-loner-23. You wrote your feelings very well. I do think, though, that your Grandmother knew how very much you loved her and that the love you had for her was the reason you just waved instead of hugged. Thanks for sharing and best wishes.

With Love,
Ethel

Much irony in this goodbye. You hugged her with this write, Julie.

I don't know what to say....this write made me cry.  I lost my grandmother earlier this year.  I spoke to her two days before she was gone and I didn't get the chance to tell her good-bye or that I loved her.  It was a very sad time, and it still hurts that she's not around.  Thank you for sharing this.  This poem found it's way to my heart.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Julie, I'm so sorry to hear this, sweet friend, but I know with all my heart that your grandma knew how you would have hugged her and that she knows you love her so much and you did the best thing for the both of you! (BIG HUGGGSSSSS) I am here if you need someone to talk to, sweet friend, God Bless You Both, I send angel hugs to your grandma, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Julie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
