He was the Sun
A warm  kiss on my face~
How he loved me for it once

Now, he shares the sky
with lady shadow
& apologizes for setting
with a magnificent bow
on her behalf

He touches, "adieu"
against my lips
before heralding a new
day on another's horizon

I wanted him to be my sun,
But in truth, he always shined
for them all...

Somehow, I figure there's
more behind this
then I might ever know...

but you got it out
and that is important...

and makes for a good, pondering read...

To love a sun that shines for all, when you would rather it shine for you alone.  Sometimes, we must share, and keep the special sunbeams for ourselves.

Thank you.

Tier, this is so beautiful. I like the way it makes me wonder what inspired you to write it. Maybe one of a poet's little secrets they never completely reveal? Very good. Thanks for sharing.

With Love and Best Wishes,
Ethel

I love this piece!

Thanks everyone for your kind replies. This was an old poem from 1998. I thought it could use a few changes and this was the result.
