On my way back in the plane

I didn't even pick him up, he just sat next to me
Slightly younger then I am and apparently not free
He read this magazine, about biking down the hill
Then he tried explaining, the ins and outs of this skil

Costs five thousand he said, I heard him sigh real deep
I said "You'll still be sweating Sir, downhill rides don't come cheap"
He had to fly to Amsterdam, and then three hours by car
And for only one day of work, he had to travell real far

I'm sitting close to the window, so I could see it all
I waited for the sun to set, turning into a big red ball
But when I opened my eyes, because I'd fallen to sleep
I really could have cried, for the sun had sunken deep

A snapshot in the darkened sky, is all that I could take
Cursing softly there and then, for not having stayed awake
I listened to some music, on the walkman I had bought
But couldn't concentrate, in my mind popped up one thought

How odd I thought, sitting here, talking to this unknown man
If he should contact me in the street, I probably would ran
Then I thougt of all the people, I have met on this vacation
Apart from one, they all were nice, I was lucky I'm sure

Behind the names of pages blue, so many are unknown
Some have even several names clinging to their thrown
It doesn't bother me at all, but it's this thought that I adore
You could be inviting twenty "people" and ending up with four

I should stop my babbling now, before I'll get you bored
Just wanted here to make a point, that can not be ignored
Some names were only names before, like in a fantasy
We reached out into the unknown and became reality

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

That just about sums it up, doesn't it? You met some elusive 'family' members, and discovered they were very real.
