Listening to every heart

0 posted 2002-10-05 06:26 AM

Night’s Shade…

It began early enough in the afternoon,
that travel of gulf stream moisture
that wound it’s warm way northerly…

it came in like sauna air and you
felt it before you saw it, and you did not see it
until you put your fingers to your hair,
or face, which by now had been
kissed by dew…

or so it seemed.

If there was one thing that was memorable
of Konrad, it was that he was oddly
long,
a long face, accentuated by a long nose,
and long almost effeminate fingers,
with manicured nails, tapering off into
tapping noises of his silent words…

and he wrote of the sauna air that had left
him feeling misty,
as he tried to capture its metaphysical ambience…
which just eluded him.

So he stood in the night’s shade,
the soul of him casting longer shadows still,
there, in the moon’s light,

and it came to him as an electrical jolt,
that there was a cold and warm front which had
clashed, to cause the fog,
and he stood there, on the porch stoop,
feeling the cool air under warm currents in tandem

one with the other,

and thought of lovers, and those yet
to be loved,
and of those who would never think
they were worthy of loving,

and he ached, because he knew,
and he tried, desperately,
to capture the metaphysical fog,
put it to paper,
just to say

I felt you,
once,
in the night’s shade.

With deep appreciation to Nightshade, for her lovely inspire.

This was a beautiful poem.  In the stanza where you describe him so well...long nose, face, and so on, I could see this man tapping his fingers in thought. There is a wonderful kind of mood going on here, can't really describe it but it left me with a nice feeling.

Karilea......simply beautiful, again!!  Your words are so inspiring. They just seem to flow out of your heart. Since I'm new here, I don't know who Konrad is.....but, whoever he is, real or from your imagination, I love the way he inspires you to write about him. I loved the dedication to Nightshade, too. Thanks for sharing.

love to all,
Ethel......garysgirl

Karilea - Oh, my gosh!! I am almost at a loss for words. I said "almost" ...lol.  Thankyou so much for dedicating one of your beautiful works to me. You have such a wonderful talent for making the reader feel transported directly into your piece of art. I am honoured. hugs dear lady, Chris

Geesh!! I got so flustered at your dedication, that I forgot to add this to my library!! Is my face red? Yup.

Bravo! This is so mystical and magical, and I'll bet Chris is beside herself in the soft mistiness of this poem.
Well done!

Karilea

He is sensitive, as are you...I like the way you feel the air and tell it so gracefully.  He makes me think of your brother...yes?  Beautifully done!
