Frost upon the moonbeam thickly made the sight so very dreary as the steps of man were clearly discerned beyond the wooden rail. Tis this the night of dead walking beyond our realm in silent stalking till the shadows were then talking as cold blood ran in faces pale. A sound of flight, of wings so black, did raise the hairs upon one's back And had I then had courage lacked, the fence would stand behind me then. For darkened wings did surely bring from our lips a most hellish sing As we scurried from the ghoul's sting till once again we knew not when Our hasty run’s scattered scurry did make these trembling legs hurry while our speech was weak and slurry, as we left them the grim and gore This nightly flight chuckling frightened when he swooped to then enlighten till my gun's bead his sight within, a sly grin, muttering........nevermore. Fog to bead the skin in sweat, a chill of fear in shivers met To dream again of blackened wing, of swooping, scary, frightening thing All haste toward home to fly my own, each tree to moan, each breeze now blown Mystified by what I'd seen, petrified to silent scream...try as I might escape redeem And almost home, to see the light of window warm to quell my fright Above my head within the dark, the beat of wings in darkness stark I turned again and fired blind, to stop the flurry in my mind Before my feet fell from the sky, the blackened form from fathoms high Again to flinch, again to stir...I closed my eyes in rampant blur And lifted up to soar again, straight to my stance in war like send I turned to run to no avail, the ravens wing a lance to sail Before I knew what might be done...my time was through...a hit and run Copyright 2002/Magnus and ThisDiamond [This message has been edited by Magnus (10-03-2002 10:41 PM).] |

Oh my gosh, I just love how you both seem to think inversely feel had Edgar shot that raven and set himself free of the epitaph that always haunted him in his mind! (big hugggssssss) You bring him great justice, sweet friends, I love this, this is a true keeper, we all love you both so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry and Kathleen, thank you both for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." This was a fun stretch of the imagination...brought forth a life of it's own. Always a pleasure to write with such a savy and dignified poet. Hail Magnus...Cohort of Poe! ThisDiamond |
