To Lori

Counting crescents of moon again.
Counting rocks of the hill.
Counting waves crashing over our shape
to remember the chill.

Bridling wastes of the wind again,
rising moon colored leaves.
Blotting timbre of wood river's voice.
Drowned words lack our reprieve.

Waxen wings glow red in the sun --
fly to touch forest's face.
Moon's jealousy will not ready swoon.
We must take her place.

Sighting names off the walk again.
Lifted from granite rows.
The taste of lips has turned tragedy.
October, a personal glow.

what you do with rhyme and imagery always takes me mothy breath away...
Lori inspires you in such lovely ways.

In the space between now and then
I lost the fire, lost a friend
and Ill never be the same again
Still, I believe in the innocence
we gave away.

I have read a lot of poems at PIP and marvel at the talent here.  Your poems are always beautiful and full of fresh images, and you write so many.  I am wondering... how do you do it?  I mean they always seem so new, nothing stale or overused.  Do you ever run out of thoughts?  I hope not because it is a pleasure to read your work.

Thankyou and I look forward to more.

Tier is right,
as is caterinas' wonderment.

But, let's not lose the spiders and bones completely. Some things are counted on.

Loved it, Mikey (poor gentle squirrel dude)

S'not fair! Another October without you.... Baby, I so want you to be here for the fall. The most beautiful time ever to have been imagined, when I'm just so alive and the world is so alive even as it seems to be holding it's breath and waiting to die...

There's just something in the air; the hypertension before a thunder storm. Electricity in yours veins. A time to go wild and be unafraid.

And I want you with me in our own private wilderness, sitting under the sky of a Halloween night.

your tongue's like poison
so swollen it fills up my mouth

good stuff Mikey...as usual.

held some strong images and allusions when I read this...you continue to impress with not only the depths but the quality of what you share.

OK, that does it. I read Lori's comment and you have to get to Calgary. Halloween is still plenty of time away so start planning now! Good luck to you guys!

Thank you, Ed. I've got a reputation to maintain. Heh heh.

Thanks, brian!

Kris, always glad to see your comments. Thanks for that reply.

Thank you, ThisDiamond.

Susan, I thought you might.

Thanks, Noah.

*kiss* Baby, you write poetry! I like to think of it this way: this is the LAST October we'll ever be apart... I miss you, babygrrl. God, I do.

Thank you, Beki.

Ron, thanks to you for critiquing the original version, when it was just called Forever.

Thanks, Liz. Twice.

Michael, I know what you are feeling with the separation from your Lori. My Gary and I are apart right now, too. It looks like you have found true love, though, so when you do see each other it will be  SOOOOOOO sweet!!!  Best Wishes to you both, Ethel.....garysgirl
