I didn't make a funny face
even though I wanted to
stick my fingers in my ear
poke out my tongue
to wiggle waggle back and forth
with a nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.

No, I'm told it's not polite
so I took a gentler approach
and tilted my head to one side,
the tippy-tip of my tongue peeking out
looked at him with an 'oh yeah' grin
a 'come and get me' taunt,

then ran

like the little girl that I sometimes am
and he took chase, caught my ankle
half-way up the stair, he didn't care
that I behaved

almost

I got a spanking anyway.
