On the Shores of Waikiki As I pause on the shores of Waikiki I feel the trade winds gently caressing me. On the bench to my side six young Japanese women are busy smiling and laughing as they dress a baby sister in Hawaiian beach wear. They are having a fabulous time and none seem to have a care. As I turn from them and begin to enjoy the rhythm of the waves a silence feels the air. I look again and the women are holding hands with their heads bowed silently in prayer. In the background a local begins to play his ukulele. The moon shines a little brighter and pauses to wink at me. Tonight life is beautiful on the shores of Waikiki.
