Faux Shower I awoke to gentle, balmy breezes caressing the morn to life-- yet, now they’ve turned blustery salting the patio and yard with autumn’s dressing of yellow, gold and orange. They’ve rattled the cloth gazebo, shaken the caterpillar-headed grass, and peppered the air with speckles in the rain of seed and leaf. It’s almost as if it’s a shower of drought, for the air is bone dry, save a tiny sense of humidity in the clouds rolling by. Puddles of leaves and seeds increase their depth, but the land remains in thirst, in a mock autumn shower as the sky, with leaf, does burst. ©September 29, 2002 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Vas, How lovely this is. I especially liked this line. "I awoke to gentle, balmy breezes caressing the morn to life--" Thanks for the read. |

"I awoke to gentle, balmy breezes caressing the morning to life--" I don't believe I have ever heard one's rising expressed more beautifully than you have just done! This poem held my interest throughout! Well done! EA |
