Just a Glance God left a seed implanted in a fertile place of love From in a sheltered womb I came on wings of cooing dove The unknown light of infant visions cradled slumbering head Until my dreams were laid upon the soft of feather bed I tiptoed up the staircase into childhood’s tender years The one who gave me life was there to wipe a child’s tears A sudden gust of April wind then swept my visions far To places strange and awkward for the innocence of heart I found a moonlit path one day, and walked desired miles My eyes were blinded by the moon, my lips by loving smiles The pathway led through good and bad,, and thus my heart had grown The best of dreams became the worst, the worst, the best I’ve known I danced my way through many years, on floors of polished sheen I limped along the rocky ridge and places in between And now I find myself before the threshold of an age That promised peace if I would turn another golden page And so I did, and on the hallowed pages of a book I saw my mother’s smile and a tender loving look So peaceful was her countenance, so lovely was her grace The more I looked the more I came to recognize my face For it was not a photograph, but just a passing whim As I tiptoed past the looking glass and saw myself within Then walking slowly down the stairs, with peace upon my face A grandson tiptoed lovingly into my warm embrace Elizabeth Santos Sept. 28, 2002 [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (09-28-2002 03:14 PM).] |

![]() (big hugggsssss) Oh my gosh, this is so beautiful, I cried reading this because I know your grandson must be a true angel like you are and I have faith with all my heart just like you his tears will be answered and he will find that special peace cooing to him like that dove that landed on your shoulder! It is always the mirror of the heart that shows the true self. Thank you. What light through yon window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. |
