No One’s Looking

It’s been so long
since
I’ve left them lying around
for someone else to find.

I think
decades ago
there was someone looking,
but no longer
I know.

I lose them
often
wish they were
the clapping
kind,
so I could find
them,
even if
I’m the only one
looking
for a way to
get in
and out.

Sometimes
it would be nice
to feel
like someone
was interested
was intrigued
by what it took
to find
the keys
to my heart,
anyone.

But maybe
no one’s
looking
because I’ve
already given
my heart
to Him
and who could love me more
powerfully, more perfectly, more
unconditionally than He
anyway?

btw, this is a true lament, yet a celebration is involved as well, because the last stanza is the most true of all!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

VAS,
I love this poem. Built on a wonderful concept. And you're conflicted thoughts are not inappropriate at all. (I know you know that) An excellent concept well developed. Thanks.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

VAS - He is looking and you have found Him, but that still leaves someone to find you...
