Eclipse

In dark of night she’ll slowly rise
And lay her white across my eyes
She wraps me in the night’s abyss
And sooths me with a moonbeam’s kiss

What loveliness the moon bestows
In pearly iridescent glows
She comforts fears that nightly spawn
Into the shadows of the dawn

But when a veil of black is placed
Across the glow of angel’sface
Enveloping the fair and pale
With phantom black on orbit’s trail

The luminescence of my room
Has been transformed to moonless gloom
For who am I without her night
To touch my skin in with gentle light

Behind the veil she watches me
And laughs at desperation’s plea
To show herself in bare attire
In fullness of celestial fire

Around her face a halo glows
And still her hidden whiteness shows
With moonbeam ribbons of delight
That capture me with tender light

Then slowly she’s again revealed
Her lovely secrets now unsealed
Her veil of black falls into space
And there, the moon’s most perfect face

She comes again in rhapsody
And lingers here a bit with me
At dawn she slowly disappears
Into the shadows of my tears

Lady Santos...how well this lilt touches the tongue and sinks into the heart...like cream...

Thank you for this beauty...

I saw the morning star pinned upon the sky this early day...and then the sun bathed in red whisked her away...

and I thought of you.

Thanks for writing again...we have missed your daily treats...

This poem lulled me to a state of inner calm with its lilting cadence. The beauty of your words and images was captivating. Sheer poetry.

Liz, there is magic written in these words of yours. How beautifully you have captured my heart into loving Luna even more.

'...And sooths me with a moonbeam’s kiss ...'

Ahhhh, the glow of moonbeams.

Hugs, Marti

Elizabeth:
By far, one of the most impressive works I have read and certainly most tender of the beautiful moon. ThisDiamond

You truly are gifted with the "magic" it takes to show her off it such style.  Lovely Elizabeth.

Makes me want to dust off the telescope and take a peek.
This is a "beaming" piece or work Elizabeth!

Oh, Elizabeth - I come here so rarely -  I brought my "Misty's Journey" to share, but did not expect to see one of your jewels!  What a treat!

This is so exquisite!

I wish I had a book of your poetry.  You are so gifted - you should be published, you know.

Warmly,
Rosemary
