i'd like to say
     i love the girl
but my heart wont embrace
the word

she fills the spaces
of lonliness
her presence can be heard

her chatter, her pitter-patter
in the morning
when we rise

in the darkness of the night
her breath, her touch,
her sighs

but love is something
i left behind
when it slipped
out of my  hands

     the day we parted,
     love and i,
was the day we slipped off
     our bands

i dont know
how to tie a bow
another knot i'll tie

for lonliness and i
arent friends
i'd rather live on the wings
of a lie

i'd like to say
i love the girl
but my heart wont play the part

so i'll drink of this cup
and swallow it hard
and throw another dart

they say love comes
     to those who wait...

sometimes love goes
     from those who hesitate...

There is much wisdom and tenderness in this piece ... a lovely delicate write, from the heart. Much enjoyed!

Best wishes,

DG~
Good morning gal~

'i dont know
how to tie a bow
another knot i'll tie'

Those 'knots' help us hold on to love just a little bit longer~
Never knowing if the 'friend' feels the lifeline of our hearts~
But .... knowing we throw it out for them to grasp~

This is really a tender write~
For I know your heart is in it~
*Hugs*

Wow...this was a hard one to read for so many reasons.
I know you understand all of them...all too well.
I hope you showed this to your 'friend' and that
he accepted it in the spirit in which it was intended.
All my love and *BIG HUGS* to both of you.

I enjoyed your poem very much.
Only I felt rushed at the very end.
I expected more would come, but I was brought to a sudden stop.

I can identify with this. As I write this I am wearing a friendship bracelet of the most beautiful friend I ever chanced to meet. Though lately we seem to be growing apart and I am not so sure if I love her anymore. Even if I want so very badly to love her the way I did when we first found friendship in each other. This touched me on a very personal level. Thanks for sharing.

PARKER..thank you for the second round.. LOL@you--i'll see if i can find you a bumper sticker....!
KRISSIE..i'm sorry to hear of your friendship slipping away...it brings me great sorrow to 'lose people'..sometimes things go wrong in one persons life and they just dont know how to bring someone else in to help them along with it...until they learn to love themselves again, they may forget the love you have given...give it time...and patience...
thanks for reading!
'DEER..i wish i couldve made it to tampa too!!!  i did go to busch gardens that saturday...then realized you folks went to cypress gardens!  LOL..imagine my 'oops face' when i figured THAT out!  teehee...oh well..i tried...couldnt cancel my busch trip by the time i realized my mistake...
thanks for reading!
CHARISMA..i thank you friend poet..
MIDNITESUN..it did reach him..and he agrees with "parts of it"...lol..as my 'ex-hubby' i didnt imagine he would agree with all of it..but i'm glad we are friends enough that i could share my observations/perceptions with him..
thank you for missing me! lol..and for reading!
EARTHANGEL..thank you much for enthusiastic reply!
