Coming of Age My eldest brother, nine years old, Thought he could break a horse. Our mother strictly forbade it. A mother's right of course. Her young son mustered all his wiles, Hoping he could sway her. Unwilling to be defeated, Vowed to disobey her. He then gathered rope and bridle, Went to the big corral. He,there to break an ornery colt; His brothers there to yell. His youngest brother, four years old, Screamed, "I'll tell Ma on you, Unless you take me up there And let me ride him too." In eagerness to hush him up, The eldest son agreed And lifted him to the bare back Of that young, trembling steed. Their father came in nick of time, Salvaged little brother; Then watched as his son rode the colt. No one told their mother. Daddys know when it is time to let the youngsters grow... there are some things mothers should not learn about until the kids are too old to spank... |

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Joyce, this is wonderful, I love it, yes, kids can do the darndest things yet it is important sometimes to keep them from a mother because while many mothers are very dear to their children sometimes overprotection could strain a child out! (sigh) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joyce, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Joyce, *BUMP* I'd like to have seen that! Fun write. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Joyce, I felt as though I was standing outside the corral leaning on the wooden fence watching this whole scene. Wonderfully vivid descriptions. Daddy's always know when to show up and save the day! Hugs, Marti Every now and then take a good look at something not made |

This is a wonderful story. I am glad the younger brother didn't get hurt. |
