Its shape stretched and stuttered
over the water.

The shadow of bird,
the shadows of rain
spreading the sea
were the same.

A hand slapped the waves;
white glove remained.

Thanks, Ron. This was inspired by something that almost happened near Gloucester, when a bird came very close to a powerline before gliding out over the ocean.

What i like about the poem is the hand/glove.

We had a squirrel take on a transformer here last week ...
both the squirrel and transformer were lost.
Power was out for only a few minutes but it was enough to interrupt the early morning routine of my hometown ...
It looked nothing like the image you portrayed, yours had a lot more life to it!!
Nice work.

I love the way you express yourself. I am always interested to see what you have written this time. Enjoyed. Chris

Excellent imagery ... and captured in so few lines Mike. You made me ponder the visuals in this piece ... and I enjoy that. Well done.

Best wishes,
/Kit

This is exactly why I enjoy reading poetry. Sometimes you find a gem lingering at the bottom of the page just waiting to be unearthed. I like this Mikey.

I like this a lot, it has a power about it, but I have to ashamedly admit, I don't get the hand slap...etc part. I don't get the metaphor of it.

Thank you both.

VAS, the bird slaps the waves,
a body remains.

from the glove)

Thank you, Sunshine. That's the best compliment a poet can receive...
