the passage was wide
and she stepped a little too short.
fallen
the air around her during the fall
beat with heavy wings around fragile places
and her heart was too terrified
to even murmur.
so it stopped
a heartbeat in the full pledge of love
suddenly jolted
quivered with an anxious feeling
that something was to swallow it
once it finally landed
and doubt consumed her
turning her hope into vapor.
There are no words
for the tradgedy when someone gives up on something precious
when the pain finally owns the future.
She dreamed forevers once
when the background of childhood
held belief in magic in a steady grip,
but the forevers are gone
and these days she's stepping a little wider
to avoid any possible unknown adventures
and if she falls anyway
she carries a flashlight
to be aware of what ground might makes its claims
to her wounds.
There is a ghost message in the dust below
"I still believe"
is a skeleton long since cleaved
of any substance
that made it a healthy body of love.

"two hearts will build the foundation for one point of light
a duet done with passion"

Jenn,
Heavy heart and heavy words.
This poem is carefree child
to hardened adult.

I hope the batteries in that flashlight die,
and you are plunged into something unknown
and wonderful.

There are times when the flashlight must be taken by another.  When you must follow them and have faith that they know the way.

Let them lead you to your heart's content.

Thank you.

Sometimes it's frightening Jenn..
but we have to put the flashlight down
and trust ourselves and others...

So familiar with these feelings …..  I am stunned into silence!

I actually "felt" your words pierce through me.
