as you feast on passion's feed
restrain this your writer’s greed
take those words upon this page
hie them to thee for an age

words that simmer ere are tossed
meanings within now seem lost
what purpose serves your poetry
pulled unripened from the tree

do not hasten your words in rhyme
pluck them not from poet’s vine
watch them ripen in passion’s sun
post them not til they are done

This is a lovely bit of truth, PDV...
I always let mine ripen for a few days before I post them... and its amazing how much the poem changes from the day I write it to the day I post it...

But then...have you ever had green fried tomatoes?

Remember this, and yes, still a favorite of mine! Hugs...wish we could go dancing! *chuckle* (me still under house arrest)

I love green fried tomatoes...especially when some talented cook gets the breading just right!

Thank you my friends. I have been off beating the stuffing out of my muse for failure to live up to her side of this contract. I've hired a lawyer and plan to sue her for cruelty to animals (me)!!

LOL Sharon! Maybe you and I can get a deal on that lawyer...two for the price of one?

Damn it, Sen! Gumbo, beer, fried green tomatoes ... STOP MAKING ME HUNGRY!

Now, Sharon, I've gotta say, this poem should be posted at Passion's front door. I've been guilty for just lettin' em fly (most of mine are that way, actually), and sometimes, some words of a quite erroneous nature result.

Is it a class-action suit, then?

Ah, Sharon. There is much wisdom here, my friend. I often hold off posting to let a poem simmer that one extra day ... for the very reasons you've captured here. Well done, loved this!

Best wishes,
/Kit

we shall serve no words before their time...
to young and without age they do not have the round satisfaction in your mouth... to old and over handled..they become much to bruised and soft to retain the original ripeness...

guilty on both counts I fear...but then balancing acts always wobble from one side to the other, depending on how the wind blows and which foot you are standing on.
