I was reading Emily Dickinson
And found it hard to grasp
I could not understand just why
My brain was not up to the task

Then I remembered a helpful hint
That opened her poems to me
The Yellow Rose of Texas
Is what has worked for me

Ive got an Arrow here
Ample make this Bed
When Roses cease to Bloom, Dear
If anybody's Friend be Dead

Her poems have become fun for me
I can not tell a lie
If not for the Yellow Rose of Texas
Her poems I might not like

It's just the simplest things that can sometimes be key to understanding...

I loved this. I think Emily would have gotten quite a giggle out of it too, as no one appreciated HER while she was alive.

Guess it would have helped if the song had been around earlier.

Enjoyed.

Fandaen,
I like your verse
in blue and stumbling buzz.

There, interposed,
a fly.

Emily Dickenson was quite the writer although at times yes, hard to understand....but then sometimes what each poet means is left up to the mind of the reader.  Very well done.

You used to find Emily Dickenson's work hard to understand, well I have to admit that some of the poetry here at PIP is so sophisticated, I can't get my little pea brain around it. I'll read some of them over and over trying to understand them. In fact, I've made replies that were so far out in left field, that I cringe to think about it! hehe
