Of Man and Sea © Elizabeth Santos - September 17, 2002 Your sails are curved in swelling grace Your heart would be no other place Than in the wind’s serenity That moves you softly out to sea You travel unknown waves and rifts Of current’s pull and ocean drifts With yearning hand and will to ride The fury of the season’s tide Within the eye a memory etched Within the heart the glory sketched Of man and sea, of wind and sail Of floating on a moonlit trail What bounty does your vessel hold In empty sails that winds unfold Not fish nor treasure was the goal But only pleasure for the soul The breezes are the oceans breath That fill you to contentment’s depth The waves are rhythms of your mind That pound in hollowness of time Your heart would be no other place Than where the wind has swept your face And sea has filled your wanting eye With dreams where ocean meets the sky In crests of silver, mist of blue As golden sunsets follow you [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (09-19-2002 06:31 PM).] |

Elizabeth, I don't know how this delightful poem got to page two without being read? It holds the spirit of the soul wondering o'er the sea. And tells it magically. They are missing the treasure of the blue pages. It is one of your best. Sy |

My goodness Elizabeth - your poetry never ceases to amaze me!! Beautiful. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |

It is always such a delight to read your wonderful cadence and rhyme Liz. Your rhythm always has such a natural and soothing flow. What a beautifully picturesque piece, my friend. Lovely imagery. Best wishes and hugs, /Kit |

Liz So beautifully you ripple sea and ship into the soul, until I too want to go. |

you've captured the magic of the sea so very beautifully, Liz... The world looks so different from aboard a sailboat... and it feels so good as the wind actually carries the boat from place to place. Very lovely...very real! I bet there is salt water running through your veins Liz... otherwise, how could you have captured this feeling so perfectly. ~ loving hugs Lyra |

Oh, my goodness! This is not my doing!. Somebody stepped in and adorned the plain poem of someone who is technically deficient. Now who could it be???? First guess is Nan because she probably has half her megabytes in photographs of ships and lighthouses. Second guess is Mysteria, because she takes care of me, even though we are two ships equally lost at sea Third guess is Marge, the professional designer of poet posts , but she's having too much fun right now. So I'm back to Nan. THank you, dear heart for this beautiful post. (of course, it could have been Ron, nah! too busy, or Sunshine, Nope. too busy responding to everyones poems So I'm back to Nan. Thank you Nan Sy, Thank you master poet for the glowing remarks Chris, Thanks for the kind remarks Kit, Always nice to hear from my kid sister. I'm just in the process of compiling my Cape Cod poems. I just finished printing the poem about you. This one will go in along with those sea poems. Thank you, dear Kit. "Is thet you, my dear who's sitting there against the pearly mist? Marti, perhaps you will go along next time. Thank you! Denise, I'm glad you have had a chance to visit my poem. You have been talked about all over town as having introduced me to the raven! Hope you can come over soon serenity blaze, I also have no idea how to transfer pictures to a post. When you find out, you can teach me. Thanks, dear Lyra, I love sailing, although the last time I scraped the boat along a didtance marker and wrecked the whole side of the boat. Go with someone who knows how to sail Sunshine, don't ever give me a challenge, because I am compelled to follow through. Now that you have by tomorrow I'll have a sonnet for you HUgs,Liz Speak up, speak up, whoever you are! |

Well if this isn't one of the best classics yet, and now I have to start a new section in your book for "double meaning" poems or something. Now, I am sure Nan has a right name for it but that will do for now. My Elizabeth, the total presentation was breathtaking, if I do say so myself. |

I smell a Canukie in the woodpile! It amy be coincidence but I heard Mysteria was shopping for sailing vessels on E-Bay! Both of you ladies did a wonderful job. The poem is beautiful, Liz. |
