I found myself entranced
By his warming brown eyes
I wondered what he was thinking
But I could only surmise

He had a face like an angel
'tho in his eyes I saw fear
This young boy's name was Simon
And he came from Tanzania

I'd always wanted to help
Those people in desperate need
Where there was suffering and poverty
And so many mouths to feed

Last week I received a picture
Of the most adorable little boy
Who would give my life new meaning
And fill my heart with so much joy

I may not be rich in money
But feel I have so much to give
I'd like to help those less fortunate
Making their lives easier to live

We are all capable of giving
So let us all make a start
For the best gift you can give
Is a gift from your heart

* * * *

For many years I have wanted to
sponsor a child and although I
send money each month to Care
Australia which helps those in
poverty, I wanted to actually
become a child sponsor where I
could see that my contribution
was actually making a difference.
I think this will also be a very
good experience for my daughter.
We plan to write to Simon and
learn about life as he knows it.

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

such an event puts the world in focus.  *s*
when wars are the daily sun
the children suffer
when hunger consumes all
the children succumb.
When we, as Americans
have so much
generiosity is such a small
price to pay

~totally proud of you, Sue.  ~big smiles~

Sue,  you have shown us the beautiful part
of your heart that is a treasure....

It is sad when we sit and grumble about all
we don't have,  when there are tens of
millions of people in our modern world who
have no conveniences in their lives,  have
never driven a car,  have no eartly idea
what a telephone is...and certainly don't
argue over what program they are going to
watch on television that night...  I think
of them every time that one of my children
is fed and leaves food on their plate...

Will they or we ever realize how truly
fortunate we are...  I don't know..

I am very touched Sue and you are giving Elysa a precious gift, the gift of sharing and compassion.

We too have a sponsor child but she is from Nepal.

We have sponsored a child since our oldest was about 5 and like you, wanted be an example of caring for the less fortunate and teach understanding of the diversity of our world.

Hugs my friend, Marti

I read an article once, a good while back, that really made me think....If you have any place to live...apartment, trailer, house, anything....if you have any kind of car....even a very old beat up jalopy, and you eat even one meal a day...you are considered in the top 10 percent of the wealthiest people in the world...this just shows us how many very poor people there are out there....good write....and very true

Sue - your poetry says so much and your generosity is very evident - yours is a heart that offers much to all who are touched by it - Simon will be touched by your heart - Paul
