It's not a place that I should go
but feel the need of such and so
I walk the block that seems a mile
hiding inward thoughts, meanwhile
along the way I speak to self
which one shall have me, on the shelf?
or maybe brew of dark instead
to stop these thoughts that fill this head...
a few more steps to reach the door
to saunter in and ask once more
I'll take a Russian, white, to please
and sooth this throat, will down with ease
and maybe then, 'twill matter not
the walk uphill of once forgot.

Sometimes you just gotta go there
if only to take the edge off temporarily.
It's ok Maureen...and I hope it helped.
I liked the gist of this.... hugs and cheers to you girlfriend!!

I've had my share of those..*sigh* methinks I need something to that nature right about now..but it doesn't really help the frame of mind I'm in at the moment...we are talking about the same thing right!? Im not good at disecting poems and finding the meaning I'm usually off beat..c'est la vie..

You lay bare and naked with these thoughts.
I almost feel like a voyeur; however, this  glimpse into a private moment in your life was a privilege to share with you.

Cute write M, and hope the white russian helped ease the throat pain.

Be careful of those White Russians ...

If you take two to "escort" you, you may never get "there."

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

you guys are funny...for those who understand...I don't like spirits..but yesterday, one was all I needed to ease my thoughts...and  allow me to walk a few blocks and get some exercise in the process *s
and  if you ever see me have more than one..then you will be seeing me prone.
thanks

Very nice poem, every once and awhile I like to go out and have a few to soothe the day away, but I try to keep it so I can remember the way home.

hmmm, at first I thought you were already on your way home, but you hadn't arrived at the alehouse

the flavor of the poem is very much in line with the intent, well done

yep, don't get pulled over

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Sir Knight of Colour...not to worry..I  am only 10  buildings uphill..impossible to get lost in this small town.

.
Chanson...just wish I liked to drink  enough to not remember just once *s..and no one ever pulls me over even when walking

VAS...nope I actually wrote the poem before I left *s  and yes I only stayed long enough to ruffle some  feathers

thank you all for replying to my "nonsense" poem

Nice read, thanks. I wouldn't attempt to try and drown those thoughts, but then, I ain't gorgeous.

I guess one becomes content with one’s poetry when one opens the book ten years hence and does NOT exclaim, “Did I really write this?”
