Oh, my budding beauty,
You soon will be a teen,
And then in but a moment,
You'll be home-coming queen.

It doesn't seem so long ago
That you were in my arms,
Giggling and a cooing
With all your baby charms.

For nine months, I did carry you,
Beneath my beating heart,
The joy I felt when you did stir,
Fulfilled me from the start.

You give me so much pleasure,
In many countless ways,
Your smile brightens up my world,
You bring me sunny days.

But as you grow before my eyes,
The time will come, I know,
For you to venture on your own
And I must let you go.

So for now, I'll listen to,
All your hopes and dreams,
Then guide you Dear the best I can,
Through your coming teens.

How DO YOU DO IT??!! I can be away for over a week and OF COURSE!! the first poem I read is yours and speaks directly to my heart!! Did you know my daughter will be 11 in a few months? This poem is EXACTLY how I feel as I watch her grow into a beautiful young woman. A soon-to-be teenager. SIGH... You are, as always, a delight to read and know.
Peace,love,light and happiness,
Tammy

Linda, I have a teenage son, so I know where you're coming from.  This is very heartfelt and I hope you read it to your daughter.

Auguste---I wrote this poem for my daughter on her twelfth birthday. Tears filled in her eyes, and she said, "I love you so much, Mom!" I then started to cry and we just held each other sobbing like a couple of incurable mushpots. Thank you for your reply.

Mushpots?  Now that is a new one for my
growing vocab.  Gosh,  Linda...  I know
the feeling....my son is 12 and getting
closer to that year each day....growing
like you wouldn't believe,  in mind,
body and spirit...as well as stubborness..
But he gets that from his mother, not
me,  of course!!!

I like this poem,  and I can see very
easily that your daughter did as well...

Hugs to ya...MOM.....

This just grabs my heart, Linda...
She sounds wonderful.  Hold on to her for as long as you can...  they grow so fast and then they go away...

Dear Marti---thank you dear friend for offer-
to lend a shoulder and some advice. This was written for my eldest daughter who is actually well-past 12 now. She is working on her master's degree in education and is one of the many lights in my life!

This was so beautiful... so heartwarming.
In these days & time, it is very comforting to know that special relationships between mothers & daughters still exist. They seem to be a thing of the past...

Mine is only 3 years old, but I do know the time passes too quickly, and I will soon be feeling the same thing...

BlueEyes---That was a heart-warming reply.
Yes, the years fly by. It's hard
to believe that so many have. I wrote this for my eldest daughter and she is presently doing a master's degree in education. All the love, time, patience and listening has come back to me 10-fold!
Enjoy your daughter! You are so right, the time does go by so quickly.
