~A Chipmunk's Dilemma~

She remains so willing
and yet unable
to grab those nuts
scattered neath the table

she used to cast whimsey
at the wind
and scamper through life
but now she's pinned

she once scurried to find acorns
to unwrap
but now she finds
her furry paws trapped

but her chattering mind
won't stay still
she has poems to write
and cheek pouches to fill

she hates to beg
but here's her dilemma
she needs her freedom
but please make it tender

don't grasp her too tight
there is pain in her paw
or frustration
will scratch with manicured claw

Thanks Bill... I guess you must have harvested the nuts and scattered them under the table... I sure wish I could get out of this trap though, because they sure are tempting.

That is where my courage and strength come from.
But I do feel very vulnerable right now, just like that chipmunk trapped in the jar.

Yes... I am dancing with my crutches...
Actually, I walked around with just a cane for a bit this afternoon... but my muscles are feeling the strain. Of course, I was told that the more I used those muscles, the faster I would heal... So I am still dancing...or at least, trying to.

The paw is healing and I can now put some weight on it... but it will take quite a while before it is completely like new...
I was told that after radiation, it would feel completely better... but radiation doesn't start until Oct. 7.

Thanks Nan, This chipmunk always tries to keep them manicured, but now that I'm hobbling on crutches, they don't look as good as they're s'posed to... but I'll make sure to get em done before the poet meet...
They'll still scratch real good tho...

Thanks so much, Lauren... actually thats a picture I got off webshots and it just expresses how I feel because that little rodent is stuck in a jam jar and can't move her paws to get out of it...
she's probably in worse shape than I am.
