My misfortune was to have unwittingly idled too long under the "sale" sign on the day you chose for shopping. Merely resting I lingered imagining myself an old lion who yet had teeth. Carnivore seducer who in macho naivete was ignorant the Latin words "Dens Leonis" or lions teeth had moved through French as dent-de-lion on its way to dandelion. And while you were an excellent meal it was I who was plucked. For a time you found me a pleasure and all my parts useful, flower, leaf and root. I shone and flour- ished in your favored light and withered quite completely in the stirring of the tarot shuffling that must have turned me up an ephemeral pestilential weed. what a wonderful poem Richard..I had to read it and show you this in case you weren't here back then Dent de Lion There you were, golden maned popping up everywhere I looked as I leaned back yesterday, enjoying the warmth of an after rain. Drawing me to you, I plucked you from the meadows behind brushed you lightly against my cheek surprised at your softness, and how delicate you really were. All my life you were but a weed though cosmopolitan, and to some an herb, producing a dandy wine to drink or as is, edible to feast upon. I eyed you, held you, played with you studied your strong stem your little hairs, fine tuned breathed in scent of sweetness. Why was I so surprised... sensing your want of acceptance? Yesterday, you received mine. I kissed you with my lips and you left your tracings of gold upon them. A weed no more, I see the beauty in you M April 2000 |

Well now, I have written of this dandiest of lions myself...I shall have to rescue it from the archives, but I fear it is not quite what you've done to this, m'friend... well done! |
