It was I who was blinded by moonlight and who uttered the word Love too soon, who strutted so vain on that June night in a dance that collapsed in a swoon It was I who thought your eyes were starlight in a sky I believed all my own but obscured by a doubting cloud's foresight it is I who now grieves quite alone It was I who misread your intention and who even now puzzles what aim my heart had in such an invention well, you're gone now and I wear the blame Though enlaced you had graced me in kisses lost in space now the passion is missed I must face that your silence dismisses leaving traces you tried to resist I'd release you but I never had you yet I'm held as suspended in air in a limbo I cannot pass through but you're blameless for I put me there For a man who read passion by moonlight should his eyes not his heart dilate for if ever another sweet June night is created by such wicked fate For a moment we'd heaven on earth Oh so briefly your moon was my sky you're held blameless for all that it's worth it was I, it was I, it was I "Happy people have no history" - French Proverb |

(big hugggsssssss) I can feel your tears in these words, sweet friend, my heart goes out to you and hope now you have found a love that is true and golden! (sigh) This is sincere and excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Richard, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! It was I who was blinded by moonlight and who uttered the word Love too soon, ================================= It was I who thought your eyes were starlight in a sky I believed all my own ===================================== my heart had in such an invention well, you're gone now and I wear the blame ================================= I must face that your silence dismisses leaving traces you tried to resist I'd release you but I never had you yet I'm held as suspended in air in a limbo I cannot pass through but you're blameless for I put me there For a man who read passion by moonlight should his eyes not his heart dilate for if ever another sweet June night is created by such wicked fate For a moment we'd heaven on earth Oh so briefly your moon was my sky you're held blameless for all that it's worth it was I, it was I, it was I =================================== oh damn....this just went thru me... Richard this poem is so achingly raw and honest and so poetically beautiful in its phrasing and expressions. So many lines remind me of moments that are engraved on my heart ... this reminded me of a poem I wrote a couple years ago...I hope its appropriate that I share some of it... as I search for the reasons of why ... all I can hear are the things you didn't say. I cant be mad or hurt by the promises you never made ... you never lied ... you never led ... what you did was just quietly fade. I never saw you leaving, never saw your hand on the door ... Blinded by your beauty ... I missed all the signs ... although I've been here so many times before. tho sometimes I think the words would be better served tattooed on my forhead as a reminder...but I know that even then...we would and should try to touch that star again... Richard..with all sincerety... trust me when I tell you...its her loss. Maybe someday she will realize the stars she gave away. As always your poetry impresses and evokes me deeply. If all the tear drops went to heaven And if all the pain was confined ... Would I be your salvation could I make your spirit shine. RSWells, I'd release you but I never had you yet I'm held as suspended in air in a limbo I cannot pass through but you're blameless for I put me there My favorite stanza. Well done, enjoyed |

Well the most important line in this piece should be one we all remember after insensitivity strikes us down square in the heart... "you're blameless for I put me there" Great write Richard, and makes for many thoughts in my mind - and although in any relationship I feel two should part with no blame at all for this only keeps the pain alive; when one is so insensitive as to not even say why when they "slam" a door, this "blame" keeps the wound open. How very insensitive some people can be that they care not of other's feelings, and how very sad for the recipient. A wonderfully done piece for those with saddened hearts, bearing those indelible scars of insensitivity. The most valuable thing you own is a smile, wear it, and share it. |

Me too. You've penned for many of us an emotional state we wish we'd never experienced, yet sometimes cannot seem to avoid. |

I'd release you but I never had you This poem completely bypasses the eyes to be read and recognized by the heart. It's stunningly beautiful and unbearably sad and written in such wonderful rhyme... It's simply superb. |
