I thought a car was just a car
But boy did I thought wrong
About that car, Nan calls her own
I really could go writing on

It started when she picked me up
At the bus stop in Falmouth town
My suitcase should go in the trunk
But the trunk was shut tight down

When I was seated in the front
It scared just the hell out of me
Closing doors it appears to set off
This flying loophole you see

You have to put your seatbelt in
But I'm just a country girl you see
We don't have flying things in cars
That scares simple lasses like me

When Marti came over to visit
She had to go sit in the back
Not once she could open the door by herself
He held his locks down, lik it was an attack

Then Nan would come over, smiling big
(she did this every single time)
Just pulled the knob with no effort at all
Really, I'm telling the truth in this rhyme

I bet it's one of them fancy movie cars
This car is weird, I am telling you
So when she invites you to sit in it
Think twice my friends, before you do

We have an expression in Australia "sit down, belt us and hang on". Sounds like it could apply to Nan's car.

LOL ... I know this car well Titia!  It's a Jaguar with an attitude, rofl ... and I loved that car - tell Nan to bring it up to Ontario for a visit soon.

You brought back a ton of wonderful memories for me just now. Matter of fact, I think that door sticks, just so Nan's visitors can giggle and remember when ... like me ... right now.

Hugs to you ... glad you are having a wonderful time!
/Kit

Titia, you have captured Nan's car perfectly. I tried so hard to make friends with him, but, it was not to be.

If I was in, I couldn't get out and if I was out, I couldn't get in!!
Every time!!!
"Nan, heeelp..."

But he and Nan have an understanding and an agreement
and it works for them!

Loved this; it's a keeper....Hugs, Marti

Hah! I don't think I'd like that car! I'll keep my little Malibu, it lets me do my own belting up. (Though it yells at me if I don't, kind of like a steel mother)

LOL, that jag is alive. His arms were just wanting to hold you close, for protection.

Sounds like you are having a great time...I guess you need a sense of humor to ride with the nanners.  Have fun!

THAT car!  You ask Nan about me and THAT dang blastest car!  I prefer to think my experience with it was a nightmare but I had the aching muscles to prove every single twisted contortion that car put me through.  I finally learned to go in the back, slide through the middle to the front seat about two days before I left!

This was not only cute as anything but true too, that car has an attitude like none I have ever seen, but it is a fast little stinker!

The most valuable thing you own is a smile, wear it, and share it.

Titia-This was so cute!  But, I'm not sure why men always refer to cars as being a she, I think this one definately has the temperment of a he!

I don't know how to tell you this, but you guys really shouldn't complain. Everything you've said indicates the car actually LIKED y'all. When the Jag gets mad, it takes two fire trucks to calm her fiery temper.

That was just about the time the battery died in the car and the remote wouldn't unlock the doors. Fortunately, her dealer came up with a unique solution …

Glad you guys are having fun!

You guys are RUTHLESS... Actually, we're the ones who are Ruthless - Hoot_owl left after a great day... well - sort of a great day (It's not every day I get hit by a little old man driving in a parking lot after all)...

But really, folks.. My car and I have an understanding... We do..

And while you're picking on me - don't forget Liz Santos's rendition from last year...

Nan, you and your car have taken quite a ribbing. Do hope you know it is all in good fun.

That 'cat' is a prize and they don't make 'em like that anymore. hehehe

Hugs to you and Titia, Marti

I'm so glad you incuded a picture as I thought maybe she had picked you up in a car ready for the destruction derby.

I'm glad you're being well taken care of, although I hope there doesn't come a time when you need to get out in an emergency.

ROFL ... just catching up on your responses Titia, and following the links from Ron and Nan. What an adventure, lol.

Nan ... Sharon told me you were hit by a car at the store ... I'm sending you an e-mail ... hope you're OK?

Best wishes and hugs to you both,
/Kit
