This time of year
Evening climbs the sky
In softer tones.
Half octaves of color
To in timeless step
Lull the eyes with
Melodies whispered
From someplace
Longed for.

Portending the changes
Sundogs brace Sol
As sentinels guard
All royalty when
Passing through
Environs known to be
Less friendly
Than home

I watch shortened days end
Thinking of how welcome
At times the cooler breeze was
And with gentle touch
Of memory think of you
Wrapped in passions throes
Crying out my name

Once upon a Fall

"Once upon a fall"---I love the title---it is so apt for this lovely story you have written. And might I add, that it was very effective adding it at the end of the poem as well.

This was a very pleasant read for me.

Very nice piece of work. Enjoyed. Chris

Ron

Fall, a time of changing..and of such beauty..you capture it well, along with the memory touch of human that you always bring to your poetry.  Beautiful!

You poet sir astound me with the feelings
within your written words.
Fall is one of my favourite times of year..
But the aching in this ending...touched me deep inside.
Thank you for this one~

Absolutely gorgeous imagery here.  I love great imagery and you've definitely done the job.

Once upon a lovely poem, I read, and enjoyed the whispered read of this.

Your words read so good
and hurt so bad.

This was a graceful fall~
it's the way you say it,
that makes the reader feel...
and that's a good thing!!

ps....Is the cherished Iambe muse feeling inspired of late?

In the space between now and then
I lost the fire, lost a friend
and Ill never be the same again
Still, I believe in the innocence
we gave away.
