It Sucks to be Eleven |

He’s three weeks into middle school, carting thirty pounds of books around; runs from class-to-class just to be on time, forget the elementary past, my boy, it’s tough to be eleven. Had his shirt stolen in gym, came home in one from lost and found; forgot his lunch today – too big now to call Mom (thank God for his friends); misplaced his homework - it’s due tomorrow; overwhelmed and outpaced, it’s hard, being eleven. Says no one gives him a break, that’s why he’s always mad, won’t do sports this year – too much stress in life already; looks bewildered when I drop him off into the morning, into his strange, grownup world, as he would say, it sucks to be eleven. © 2002 Core |

It does suck to be eleven. I remember it well. The first year of middle school is probaly harder then Freshman year of high school. He'll make it through though. And next year the 6th graders will be looking at him wondering how he can handle all this and still be so cool! [This message has been edited by EarthenSoul (09-11-2002 05:41 PM).] |

What have we done with childhood's fun? Driven it away how will they pay? Wasn't like this once not even for a dunce. Can't we slow down keep childhood around? I fear that greed has up'd the speed. Our kids don't know any other flow. |

(big hugggssssss) Oh Corinne, I understand this feeling so well, eleven was one of my most depressing years because I had so many nightmares and seizures and no friends there to support me so I was all alone and nearly lost myself forever! (sad sigh) Know that while he may be going through difficult times right now, it will get much better and tell him you promise! (big hugs) God Bless You Both, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

Yes, to be eleven, and to look forward to being twelve. Thank you. What light through yon window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. |

Aw...just wait, give me your phone number at home and I'll call and talk to him and tell him some "things" he can do to make things much better.....okay?....or let him read my "help" poem I wrote just for you. [This message has been edited by Toerag (09-12-2002 03:40 PM).] |

That in'tween stage...so tall, and yet not tall enough... too old for childish games, yet not old enough... yep...eleven can suck... but Moms have a way of making the hug still feel just right... |

Cor, I can totally relate to this...I have two in school...toting those 30 pound bookbags around like little soldiers...Yes, life can be so stressful as one is still a boy, still a child...but cast into the middle of hustle and bustle and it surely sux to be eleven, or twelve or nine.... |

Cor I remember how I ached for my kids when they were this age...wishing I could change how it was, but knowing that is one of the most important things they learn...how to deal with being eleven. |
