A Day of Remembrance
By Paul Wilson

A moment in time
Measured in days
Hearts with scars from this crime
Visions of towers disappearing in haze

Always we will remember
The ones called home that day
That fateful day in September
When the sky turned an ugly gray

Our loss felt by all
Broken hearts we counted
From the rubble some did crawl
With all our might a search was mounted

Miracles there were a few
A flag was found
Flying proudly the red white and blue
Over this hollowed ground

As we come together to remember
The ones that gave all
This memory of September
As tears echo roll call

The bell strikes it’s toll
Our pain so real
The tears of our soul
Mingled with twisted steel

Blood shot eyes still cry
For loved one’s we loss
We still ask…why
As we look to the cross

I so admire all of you, who find the words to express the loss....

I tried.

All I found was dust.

A hole in gape of "used to be"

*hand*over*heart*hugs*

one year later? and I am still...speechless.

Thank you Paul.

Serenity blaze... Thank you for the kind reply. I wrote one 2 days after this tragedy
and after seeing so many others write about it this week I thought I would give it a try.
You said all you found was dust when you tried to write about this. That is a great line for a poem if you decide to try again.
Dust and lost dreams and plans something like that. Thanks again for taking the time to reply...Paul  (I sent you an e mail)

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Paul, I too ask myself the same question and can't believe why this ever happened, and as I cry for all the families and their victims who lost loved ones that day, I also cry with hope that we can all get closer to our Lord now with hope and prayer! (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, these are very touching words of compassion, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Paul, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Paul, it is so hard to get the feelings of that day out but you have done a wonderful job with this poem.

Hmmm...seems the actual flag is missing.

Paul

Even though I am far in distance as to where the tragedy occured, that fact did little to ease the amount of pain we all felt here in Australia.  If there was anything 'good' to come out of this, it is the fact that more and more people are bonding together, regardless of their race or religion and realising that each day is like a precious jewel, never to be taken for granted.  Your words were so heartfelt and the tears fell so freely.

Take care.....Sue

Paul, It's hard for me to think this way, but I'd be willing to bet that someone stole it and has it in their possession somewhere. Just outrageous.

Guess we didn't learn 'SO' much from that day. And people wonder why the world is the way it is....

Marti...I sure hope whoever did this is caught. Surely they can't call themselves an American, because a true American wouldn't take something that means so much to so many...Paul

mycafe...Thank you for the kind reply.I'm glad you took the time to read it...Paul

Donna...Amen to you. So glad to share it with you and all. Maybe one day peace will be ours to share, like words of a poem...Paul

Magnus...Thank You sir...Paul
I never really planned or thought about writting this one, it just came to me a couple of nights ago. It really was tough doing it, with so many people affected by this terrible ordeal and all the emotions involved.

Remembrance comes out of the heart, and moments come from the soul.

Thank you.

We'll always ask why. It's a shame we'll never know the answer and that thousands of lives were wasted for no reason.

Paul,  thank you for a very well written
and heartfelt poem of a moment in our history
which we hopefully will never forget...

May we all grow from this and become more
