(This is part one of possibly a five part series, it is too complex to capture that easily!) To change things positively Must you always conform? In the status quo’s way Of doing things Try as you must To work within the system All you get is head banging With sweet smiles saying We hear you with deaf ears The kiss of death Corporate culture style For the wisdom of policies Say that they have an open door Closed to written down commitments How can our perfect system Do us wrong, politicians exclaimed For we have such accountability Look at the faces of fiscal responsibility For they are not crooks, who would bleed Our futures away from us In promises of future contributions The system is forced to look the other way Pressure of who you know Does not make a system right So as the sewer collapses the politicians Are so quick to exclaim They where never a friend of mine This way of thinking Reminds me of school children Who becomes so independent Gaining self respect When jealousies go to work Labeling them as traitors Bringing they back into the fold Else be isolated in banishment Poets notoriously have questioned this world In every door possible, never fearing adversity Once they blossom in blooms of self awareness Their wings spread, creating the winds of free spirits So uninhibited no universe can trap them in a bottle So pure that these words will come to judge us Into the history, which comes back to haunt us Thought: What can one man do alone, absolutely nothing? Unless others join in that isolation, by spreading the words that might evoke the thinking evolved in change. By questioning and spreading words that inspire others to join in this banishment of the abuse of fiscal responsibility. Send this poem on its way to others to challenge the status quo, but the tide running against the grain of righteousness needs a miracle to part the water.
