A style once considered a disease invented by erudites to please brief eclipse of the sun... articles pealed away one by one directed curves..mixed media today embroidered crustaceans had joyful play undulated lily flower held captive sway elongated figures of angelic grace wavy lines constructed from crockery remains short lived designs...wrought iron fancies art nouveau waltzed across nation states beakoned artisans to challenge tired slates a brief inventiveness... it all began from the overly ornate cumbersome 'wasteful' designs detracted from straight lines. As an artist myself, I can very well identify with this poem---and you did it extremely well!--I mean EXTREMELY well. I've written poems on this as well, but this one is far superior! Kudos! Linda |

I'm with Linda on this. As an artist I can appreciate this poem. And you did it as she said, EXTREMELY well. Enjoyed. Wish I lived closer so I could come and see your work. I've not painted in so long I fear the talent may be waning. Art supplies are way out of reach at the moment financially. But I long to put brush to canvas again. Loved this piece! |

The wonderful thing about art is that is ever evolving, it can be universally and personal at the same time. I am with the others on this, great write. Battle not with monsters lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. - Friedrich W. Nietzsche |

I always enjoy the art nouveau style. I bet yours is great, too. Sandra |

Hello Brian, Yes the movement was a break in tradition and there was a desire for the thin and graceful form rather than the thick and bulky ...and there was a desire to release new personal statements in this art form. Hi Sandra, And there's is sonething we can learn from even today no? White Rose, I'm sure you'll get around to picking up a brush someday soon ![]() [This message has been edited by ecrivan (09-06-2002 09:35 PM).] |
