Tender The Heart

Tender the heart in flowing rush
Tender the soul in lost arraign
once the haven of crimson blush
to hear the wisp of words again.

Light the fire’s torch borne in battle
where one did come and two did fall
Bury the bones in clink and rattle
beneath the shroud of meadow’s pall.

Lie the ground in weary retreat
as red does flow the river falling
from scourge of war and shield’s defeat
upon the droll of two heart’s calling.

Soaring on high in fallen search
Eyes of coal in soulless malign
as blackness sits the oaken perch
in wait of death to serve and dine.

As bones do mix the soil of earth
upon the meadow growing green
New land is formed from freedom’s birth
beneath the spires in golden sheen.
