A Lenitive I would a lenient lenitive The in-between of lean and mean A sometime genie of forgive A setter of a tranquil scene And I know that I’d be busy I’d have to act the speed of light For the world is in a tizzy And ever body wants to fight. I cannot state a true aver No matter how I blow the kiss The speed of light to me a blur And so my kisses often miss. But would it not be oh so nice If just advice would hit the mark Then I would gladly pay the price To clear away this game of stark So help yourself and be a friend And this will keep you till the end. You knew you'd make me reach for the dictionary, didn't you? I should have just sat here and read the poem but you gave me a word that I had to look up and of course, it made perfect sense, this poem makes perfect sense, and our Sy? You are the perfect poet... |

Sy, my dear man, NEVER apologize for making me reach for my beloved dictionary...I have so much to learn...especially if I were to slow down a bit...your poem explained it perfectly...keep throwing out your wisdom, and I shall pick it up, vowel by consonant... |

You made me go to the dictionary, Sy, with your lenitive...thanks for expanding my vocab. I really love the message of these two lines especially: But would it not be oh so nice If just advice would hit the mark Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Seymour darling heart this is exquisite writing, and the thoughts simply flow down the page here. YOU have to know I utterly utterly utterly love this. That is one of your chief accomplishments darling man, your ability to wrap wisdom in the type of words that make the reader pause and think, what greater gift could you give than true understanding. I have a dream I dream of peace That strife will end and wars will cease That hunger’s hand won’t pinch the face Of over half the human race I dream that truth will be set free That soul’s will walk in liberty I dream my dream and hold to hope I can’t lose it I would not cope Don’t give up keep the hope alive And soul’s with dreams will still survive I thank you for the touch of this The magic of your writing’s bliss For truth and love to set us free We need to give hope its liberty You really are the bees knees darling man, I truly love it when you write like this, this is one of your utter best As always Mushy Breathe through the heat of our desire |

Leave it to me to point this out--- a lenitive is also a mild laxative. You can take the poet out of the nurse, but you can't take the nurse out of the poet! Ha! Ha! I enjoyed this poem, so I choose to take the more pleasant meaning---softening----Gosh! There I go again! I'm right back to the mild laxative definition! Linda |
