Within the bright
of sunlit day
forgotten now
the shadow play
of evening thoughts
upon my mind
drifting away
with pass of time

Yet wait they will
for dark of night
again upon
my mind alight
thoughts intrusive
will return
for the dawn
my soul will yearn.

For once again
the bright of day
to burst upon
dark shadow play
to chase them all
at last away.

Maybe you could keep the light on when you go to bed at night! Keep those nasty nightmares away!---but then again, you probably wouldn't be able to sleep!---See, it would work!---You can't have nightmares if you're wide awake!

On a more serious note, this was a very nice piece of writing.

Nicely woven...the diversion of day can sometimes keep those intrusive thoughts away, yet when night comes and distractions lessen, our thoughts become our distractions

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
