I wrote this poem for my sister's wedding. Yesterday was the big day and I had the pleasure of reading this at her special day as well as being a bridesmaid. I'd like to thank Munda, Balladeer, Auguste, Sunshine and Lost Dreamer for their help in getting this poem just perfect. Dawn ____________________________________________________ Sisterly Love, Brotherly Love A sisters love cannot be measured In inches or in feet Nor in amounts of candy we shared From our Halloween treats A sister’s love is measured In the special things you do Sharing your friends, laughter, and tears The things that make you, you. The Marigold Parade was fun Riding in horse and cart Lamar Street Kids we called ourselves Little tykes with lots of heart Dance held a special piece of your heart Hours watching you ready for a show Looking so graceful dancing on stage You always had that special glow. Our lives may not have always been easy Through all my fear you held my hand Sometimes standing in the shadows But always there as my best friend A brother’s love cannot be measured In depths of oceans blue Nor in the amount of candy shared During Batman and Robin’s debut A brother’s love is measured In the older helping the young Support in taking the first steps in life Helping the other stand strong Sharing bruises, fights and laughter, Gallant knight for your sister dear All the adventures and memories gathered from childhood of yesteryear Summers helping kids came natural Parks or playgrounds the theme was the same A chance to play with many new friends Making crafts or learning new games A caring gentleman Amy has found Matt a loving brother oldest of three A friendly devoted sister I have Amy, who shares her love with me. As we look back throughout the years A lifetime of love brings you to this day May you go forth united as one Each sharing love in your own special way. Dawn, This poem that you wrote, that I heard you read at your Sister's wedding is fabulous. You wrote the words that came from that caring heart that resides within you. I helped you with a few words is all, the rest was all you, and you did a superb job with it. Your Sister and new Brother-in-law loved it, as well as all the guests present at the wedding. Congratulations on making it 1000 posts also, it's a feat I knew you would accomplish with your devotion to all the poets here at Passions. |
