here's an old poem of mine that Lori-Anne (my grrl) rescued from the garbage heap.

she was right.

Lore
She knows precisely, exactly how to read pain --
its many textures, not so smooth as you think.
The worst kind being that which doesn't bite;
but that which caresses you falsely
into following down.

Her words light up the world via pressure points
and honest love. From her mind, to her fingers,
words shape and flower, some wilt --
all are planted right where they need to be,
whether to grow among a cemetery
or schoolyard.

Sometimes, I wonder why I do this --
why we do this thing called writing.
Sometimes, I wonder why we hurt yet still laugh;
how we can paint with dust and insert teeth
into gums, connect eyes to brains,
make whole humans somehow more complete
than life's own sweating work.

I will admit my failure at belief, occasionally,
in the world being fit for art.
I continue to chew up my own work
like razorsharp eraser nubs,
unhappy yet unafraid to change tints (and lives)
again and again.

Then I read her;
I am glad to write some more.

She said burn ... together.

Mike hi there Your writing is incredible carrying within it a quality that speaks to the soul. YOU are incredibly talented. Your writing is incredibly descriptive and well presented and when you write with your heart you surely shine.

This is superb writing, and it will stay with me for I’m keeping this special treasure piece of yours.

Love and warm stuff
As always

at every pore with instant fires

As always, I am tugged into the concepts of your works. So well described and bubbling in the boil of promise made. ThisDiamond

Oh and she was absolutely right to rescue this one, Mr.Squirrel....
Don't ever throw any of your poetry away, because even though it might look bad to you at a particular moment...
you may go back and read it again, weeks...maybe even months later, and it will look so much better...
this has been my experience, which probably explains why I have so many notebooks full of writing lying around...

Yes, she was right, and I'm so glad she dug it out.....
Loved the way you placed the flowers and the
brilliancy your words gathered up.

Very good~  very~

Every writer needs a friend like that, who can write beside you and inspire you.  I've found that it usually goes both ways.
A very beautiful poem.

HOW could you throw that verse away?!!??!!
What have I told you and Sen about trashing and burning your poetry!!!

Tell LA I said she has as impeccible taste in poetry ... as she does men

and STOP throwing away poetry..or I'll have to throw me butterfly slippers at ya.

Wow, this poem's got legs! Thanks, Martie. (this proves I should never trust my own judgment when it comes to personal work)
