A Good Time to Sacrifice As you sit in front of your bowl of soup and desires of a better meal leave a bad taste on your tongue As you window-shop life and your wallet is too small to fit in the doorway May you think also of this that nothing is worth achieving worth working toward unless a sacrifice of self can be made When the scale balances too weighty on the side of avarice while love and family cannot counterbalance the tip toward greed remember the value of offering over taking and know when it is a Good Time to Sacrifice (C) Picasso Lyrics 2002 [This message has been edited by ShadowRider (06-16-2002 10:21 PM).] |

Hello ShadowRider Your words spoke volumes with such an important message for all of us. It is always so much better to give than receive and I live by that rule. I hope more people read your heartfelt words. Take care.....Sue Suetang |

*smiling* I was still making some adjustments to this when your kindness could not be ignored. . . I guess i was trying to say that sacrifice can be a really good thing even though we have been taught it means to 'do without.' Thank you, kind Loner. May your loneliness end. . .soon. tSR |

awwww thank you, Sue. Ain't that the beautiful truth, tho? In my humble opin, sharing is the most noble of all human traits because two people or more always benefit and the lessons taught by sharing are never forgotten. Thankx again! JkF |

I like this polished version much better. I did tinker with it like you asked me to, and came up with a bit different aspect, maybe I will show it to you later. Beautifully done Jeff, I liked the flow and the message. Sometimes sacrifice is so unpleasant to the ego, but has much greater, truly lasting rewards to overflow the heart in the long run. A good sacrifce is one that takes something away from us we covet or selfishly cling to and give it up or to another. It has to come with a cost to be a true sacrifice. Why settle for a bowl of soup when an entire feast is set before us? You captured that message well. The hard part for most of us is to live it don't ya think? |

Jeff darling boy this is of course wonderful, at least when you talk of sacrifice I can see you understand what true sacrifice is, and whether it is of value. Your pen again clearly reveals the layers of your truth it is spellbindingly special. Dulcie darling heart I miss your writing write some more soon please. Jeff truly this is awesome writing the construction the flow the words all flow together to make a whole that is amazingly deeply meaningful and so essentially true. Excellent writing absolutely excellent Love and warm stuff As always Mushy Breathe through the heat of our desire |

The value in sacrifice to share: i can't even begin to say how meaningful it could be if only people saw the deep worth if it. My father and and my grandmother taught me every day of the week what it meant: wonderful moral mentors. They ALWAYS thought of others first. All that, was supposed to be wrapped up as this poem. *smiling* as you can probably tell, it's a 'biggie' with me. Sorry to bore y'all with this preaching..... the main thing i wanted to say to Sey-Hey, Keth, Dulcy, Marsha, and Nancy, is thank you for feeling the emotion i was striving for in this. That is what is important. May peace always be with y'all. jkf [This message has been edited by ShadowRider (06-17-2002 11:16 PM).] |

As you window-shop life and your wallet is too small to fit in the doorway May you think also of this that nothing is worth achieving worth working toward unless a sacrifice of self can be made I should take this poem with me every time I go shopping, Jeff... My little wallet never fits into those big stores and if it does...its even littler when I leave, so I guess that I must learn to sacrifice instead... Thanks for sharing this lovely and truthful poem with us. ~ hugs of sacrifice Lyra |
