For so long I've been wishing,
on some one else's star.
One already taken, so my wishes
wouldn't reach that far.

A brilliant light glowing from a distance,
was what caught my eye.
I knew it would last my life time,
not knowing I'd have to say goodbye.

I should have known, that any star,
that stood out from the rest.
Would be taken by someone,
that would want only the best.

Someone else's star,
will never shine for me.
So I'll withhold my wishes.
I'll just have to let it be.

But each night, I look up,
at the star that shines so bright.
Though it belongs to some one else,
It still fills me with it's light!

I'll not choose another star,
if this one can't be mine.
I will not wish, but I'll let it's light,
fill my heart and mind.

If you can't make it so,
you need to let it go!
