Rolled and Coasted

I promised I could write of this,
the wetted feel of waters kiss.
Or maybe it was in the drown,
as torrents sprayed us all around.

I'd yet to ride those coasters wild,
first time I was but just a child.
Then years ago was bet to loop
that super twister, I was duped.

It wound me tight brought out from in.
My thoughts, not choiced, were in a spin.
And when I laid myself to ground,
"Never again" the words heard sound.

But once again the children won
as I and they and Mother spun,
round and round and up and down
screaming, me, my face in frown.

Those pics they take showed me each time
eyes unopened in each climb.
The Great Bear tried, but never again
said I, since now I know feels end.

And roller this and roller that
the water coaster soaked us flat.
So drenched we were before the ride,
when turn was ours, mine still, close-eyed.

Barely could I take much more,
but trailed the Blazer 'gain with four.
And that was last ride I would do.
My head was pounding, "NO MORE, YOU!"

I watched them once or maybe twice,
ride the rides at any price.
Believe me when I say this time
"No Way, uh uh, I'll stick to rhyme..."

To self, I promised I would pen
my poetry of Hershey's, then...
It took an extra day to rest,
recoup myself from Chanson's quest...

To Drew and Blake and Chad and Grant
I owe a thanks, but lips still chant
"Give me the  earth, on ground to stay",
This was my tale, My Coasters Day.

Maureen

I agree with you!  I used to love those rides...especially the one that swirled round and then dropped the floor from under you while you rode the wall.  No thankyou anymore.  It's fun to watch others enjoy though, especially the children.

Thanks for bringing back some memories!

I had a great time..except I think as an adult I am too tense waiting for the  inevitable..that tension  makes for a whopper of a headache..and believe me, I did the Great Bear which rides you upside down, inside out, looped left sided and right sided and all I kept saying to myself was..keep breathing..keep breathing it's almost over...don't panic...

I told Chanson's boys now that I have been on it..I don't ever want to do it again, because I KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE now *s
Thanks for reading...and you are correct, Martie, watching is a lot more fun.

echo, echo, echo your sentiments, exactly, though I'm certain I could not have penned it so syntactly!

Well, it rhymes, even if I didn't make any sense of it, but who can once they've been on a coaster ride with your succinctly depicted memory.

Well done!!!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

I've never been on a roller coaster and never intend to because I knew the experience would be just as you described. Great write.

In truth, what defines us is our poetry.
