I wrote this for a dear friend who was terminally ill. She touched my life as no other. I miss her more each day. We don't talk about it not anymore we both know the shadow waits just outside the door. Instead we live we laugh, we giggle we gossip over the phone each one of us becoming closer and a little less alone. When our conversation is over and we say Good-Bye it's then, and only then I allow myself to cry. WhiteRose In truth, what defines us is our poetry. |

White Rose, this reminds me once, of what a friend said, terminally sick, too, when I asked him, what could i do. . . he said: just stand beside me like you always do...that's enough Brief as your poem was, it still pours into the reader what you feel deeply.... jeff |

This is extremely touching, brings a chill over me ... not of fear or fright, but just emotion... You are a gift, a precious gift.... |

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Anne, God Bless You, and I know with all my heart Anastasia is so blessed to have a true friend like you for I feel love is the best cure of all and because of you there is a smile and hope in her heart! (sigh) My thoughts and sympathies are with you both, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Anne, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

I cried in front of her...she knew I couldn't hide it, no use to try...but the laughter was always there behind the tears. She loved the way I laughed. Thanks Anne...dear one, for something we shared, still do, and always will. [This message has been edited by passing shadows (08-11-2002 04:15 PM).] |

Dear sweet Dixie, I tried never to let her know how much it hurt. I think she probably knew. She was like a sister to me, she knew me so well. Believe me, there were many times I wanted to scream my tears into the phone. It's okay that you cried. I know she understood. That's just the way she was. To all the rest of you who commented on this poem, I thank you. Ana will always live on in my heart. and Dixie, someday I hope to hear your laughter myself. If Ana loved to hear you laugh, it must be a joyous sound. [This message has been edited by WhiteRose (08-11-2002 04:18 PM).] |

This touched me very deeply, Anne... I know how much will power it took for you not to cry... I did the same thing with my first husband. But I think we were both playing the same game of pretend. He never let on to me that he was scared, and I honestly don't know how he did that...because now I am in his shoes and the fear is written all over me... but when he was dying, I was crying inside all the time, but I never let it show until after he died. Then I cried enough to fill 2 oceans. ~ hugs and tears to a very special and very strong lady Lyra |

Anne, yes, one day, soon I hope. SC isn't that far away from FL, maybe I could take a break from life and come sit by your lake with you...we could laugh and cry all evening. That would be so good for me. |
