He Had His Time

There is always a story
nothing is ever really new
I watched him from a distance
as he danced with her

He would never know me or I him
for he went off to college before
I had the chance to grow up

It was in the paper one day
I recognized the name
His photo was faded but he
was as beautiful as I remembered

I was just thirteen when I saw him
I was in love with an untouchable
A simile from him at that distance
left me weak with butterflies

Now he was gone
Reality crumbles
An old dream is shattered
A ghost to haunt my memory forever

He never knew me, but I knew him
Gone now back to the dust
Back to the place from where he came
Much to young, much to soon
He had his time

There is always a story
nothing is ever really new...

It is said that no story is new, that all that passes is some configuration merely a retelling. Man has inhabited this sorry sphere beyond any rational explanation and who are we to doubt?

The timing of this post
put me in mind of The King...
and how he made such an impact
with his smile

I know that is not what you intended,
but that was the thought that
crossed my mind...

Yes, Arthur. Your reply tell me much about you. A man in touch with the sensitive side of himself. One who understands the value of retriving moments of emotional impact. Thank you for helping me realize this importance.

Thank you Lyra, for your comment. It means so very much coming from one who writes so beautifully. You encourage me, much appreciated.

Marge, thank you. I have been reading and learning from you. I look forward to more. So many written gifts to catch up on.

Nathan, thank you for your feedback and sharing. You are so creative in your replies.
Thanks for taking the time.

Sunshine, yes I can see why you would have thought about the King. You must have had a deep crush on him.

I feel that I am getting to know a little more each time, each day that I read everyone's works and the replies that others send concerning them.

What a wonderful exchange of cognitive thinking and sharing.

Interesting. It's true, nothing is ever as simple as it seems. And there are lots of feelings we may never know of.

Yes, Sandra. They are buried deep down only to resurface when you least expect it.
