Written with feather strokes
Upon a page of lily white parchment.
A candle’s flickering light adding to
The waning fire of the hearth.

Write the words,  tell of the soul
Let them know of thy trials
Give to them thy heart to share
Let the growing vine reach
The heavens above.

Slowly the scribed words
Flow onto the page as the extension
Of the mind comes through the pen
Into a vision revealed.

The grandeur of a roaring fall
Cascading down a granite cliff
Into a crystal pool of pure in flow
Lapping at pebbles into a brook
Of babbling words.

The candle’s wax falling toward
The base of a pewter stand.
Revealing the time of night is late
Far into the waning hours before
Morn brings the crow of the cock
And bark of the dog.

Slide slowly into the abyss
As the echoes of falling cries
Pummel the ears from within
The depths of hell.

A single dying ember remains of the
Mighty oak within a hearth still warm
From the roar of flames.   A pen falls
From the hand of a sleeping poet
Now slumped over in slumber.

As a  dream takes form within the mind...
A hand twitches….as if to want to
Write of the mist unveiled within a
Mind and heart…

A heart dedicated to the passion of
A pen,  the daubing of the quill and
Dark indigo ink….on parchment
White as a lily on a spring day…

I chose this last stanza only as it was
a very good closing to the piece.
