Summer’s Reverie

sun has stroked the feathers
to smoothe and thin
of four fine finches at the feeder
this day

no need to longer
fluff themselves
up in insulation
to remain the duration

of chill air
that resided astride
the hourglass
of time

for having arisen
this hour, again,
a tower of glow
head to toe

of summer’s shine
summer’s glee
summer’s cozy
reverie
