acrid smoke swirls in
choking clouds of soot
sweat-soaked and bitter greedy
waterless tears dim
the figure of woman earth
remnants of ancient volcanoes
no longer a person
just the shattered leavings

and roughhewn men,
scared by the battles
of mercenary armsman
little left of humane
weaknesses die fast
does the possessor?

warrior’s life
a brutal existence
that builds brutal men,
quickly

in the blackness there
is something new
stronger than the flames
the pain, the darkness

of just hunger in the forest
of noisy sleep
blanket covered forms
of holy warriors
dressed as damp stones

.

This is not the
west coast talking,
this is the east,
and the raping
of the land...

[at least, that's how I saw it...]

(sad sigh) I have heard all about these fires so so much and the ones in Oregon, here in Colorado we have had so many bad fires too and it is saddening to see many animals now playing survival for the fittest to find food and shelter in those areas! (big hugggsssss) This is a powerfully haunting poem, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Very insightful Dark. I like it.

I can't tell you what I was thinking when I saw the word "ganja" in the title.

There are a million messages,
in a million bottles,
you just have to know
which one to pull out of the ocean.

I once planted trees
in Big Bear...
some 38 years ago...

and something tells me
it felt the heat
and stands scarred

but still,
a heart beats inside...

DS

It is sad to see such ravished earth, yet I know that a certain part of fire is needed, and gives back a little from what it has taken.

Your poem is like looking at another world...in sci fi scary.  Well done!
