He was buying a dozen donuts and a quart of chocolate milk In silver framed sun glasses and a black shirt of silk I walked up and asked him if he was the king He just smiled and mumbled softly No I don't sing He turned and ambled out through the door I thought my jaw would bounce off the floor His pink caddie gleamed bright in the sun On the vanity plate were the words "HOUND DOG 1" paladin |

Very cute. I love it. I've been all over the country and I never had an Elvis sighting. Darn :-) [This message has been edited by WhiteRose (08-07-2002 01:33 PM).] |

I remember this one, and smile anew at this reading as well. Love it. |

Hey....I was there too! I saw Elvis Leave The Building....and in the men's restroom there was some graffiti on the wall next to that "adult oriented" machine that read: "If I would have purchased these I wouldn't have had a daughter that married Michael Jackson."....(It was written right next to the graffiti that read: "This is the worst chewing gum I've ever had in my life"....This poem is excellent! I enjoyed. |

I remember this from before, and it is timely again in its appearance. I was carrying my second daughter and my first thought after hearing the radio announcer's news, was that this daughter would never know the King's voice... how naive I was... how wrong I was... today, even my 10 year old granddaughter says, "thankyouverymuch".... |

I totally enjoyed this cute poem, Paladin... I live in Kalamazoo, Michigan... And we had several Elvis sightings here during the late 80's. The person who they thought was Elvis, actually turned out to be someone I knew...isn't that a hoot? ~ jumping up and down in praise or The King! Lyra |
