Cry Freedom By: Noah Eaton 8/6/02 Millions of brothers and sisters dance in my mind Standing under a fragile sun in a sky without a voice Scattered like the buffalo on the open plain Tryiung to find the courage to form a circle together to the future I wait with my head buried in open hands, heaven help us all Falling into an ocean of prayers, slumbering without blankets Swaying to the wind, hands reaching for a sign Raining tears, transparent, clear, crying freedom We all bleed the same as everyone But we're divided by the fear we feel We all bleed the same as everyone But we're all torn apart in this belligerence Watching as our children yearn for their moms to return There's a little girl waiting by the cathedral mirror With pigtails and pajamas, tucking a white bunny under her arm her parents gave her Longing to find a day she can sleep more soundly Lying in her grave dreaming of something she could never become She waits holding a candle in her hands, heaven save me She dances in the ballroom until someone tells her to take it outside And she kneels before the flag, wondering if the colors still bear complaisance Raining tears, transparent, clear, crying freedom We all bleed the same as everyone But we're divided by the fear we feel We all bleed the same as everyone But we're all torn apart in this belligerence Watching as our children yearn for their moms to return Millions of brothers and sisters dance in my mind They all look different but feel the same underneath it all All rubber duckies heading down the canals of life What will we say to whose who get left behind? Cry freedom Show us what innocence remains Cry freedom Show us what love hasn't died We all bleed the same as everyone But we're divided by the fear we feel We all bleed the same as everyone But we're all torn apart in this belligerence Watching as our children yearn for their moms to return Waiting for someone to love them... Cry tough, the eagle cawed Cry loud, the solider chanted Cry Freedom, the earth cried back when shot in the heart with hatred missles Noah, my gosh, this is the versatility every writer craves, yet seldom achieves! Love it when you and I are on the same heart-page, amigo! So much goes into the word: Freedom What an excellent job of telling us 'what.' jeff |
