The Dutch team didn't made it
at the Women's World Championship Softball
Not experienced enough for the big hitters of the World.
But Lynn Karijn had a great time
she really had
She was a desinated hitter at first
After two games they placed her in the field
where she belongs
and she didn't leave her second base anymore
till the end.
The end....
it must have felt rotten
knowing they could, but they didn't
But there were some lightened sparkles too
She had a hit average of almost 0.500
(don't know what that means)
but it placed her in the top ten best hitters in the preliminaries
They wrote in the papers she has played very, very well
and I'm a proud mother
and a happy mother
for this is the first time
playing abroad
that she didn't see the interior
of a hospital
She told me on the phone
"I'm still all in one piece Mom"

Maybe this isn't a poem
Maybe it's just a story, pretending to be a poem
I don't care, I'm just proud
and happy

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Titia, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Baseball Mothers are the same the world over, I can remember crying when my son didn't make it to the finals a few times Titia, and not because he lost, but because I was so proud of him putting forth his best effort in trying!  Good for her, and I know this feeling of pride you wear so well.

Nothing means more to me than faith,
family and my friends.

Well, they did make it TO the World Championships. That's a real accomplishment in itself....and I have a feeling your daughter had a lot to do with that. How good is .500? There has only been one major-leaguer in the states that has ever been over .400 and just barely. That's how good it is....you both have reason to be proud, Titia

I love your story Titia. You sure are proud of your little girl, and rightly so. What a great experience, to be able to go abroad to play ball. Doesn’t matter whether they won or lost….sounds like they played a great game.

Written proudly...
this is a fine poem of a mother's love for her daughter...
and nothing is more poetic than a mother's love for her child...
Congratulations to you and your daughter, Titia...
Proud poetic hugs to both of you
